The Preacher's Wife (1996)

The Preacher's Wife trailer is for Penny Marshall's 1996 holiday romantic comedy-drama, a remake of the 1947 film The Bishop's Wife. Reverend Henry Biggs, played by Courtney B. Vance, is losing faith as his small Baptist church struggles with money problems and a developer who wants the land. His marriage is under strain too. He prays for help, and help arrives at Christmastime as Dudley, a charming angel played by Denzel Washington. Dudley sets out to help the church, but he also grows close to Henry's wife, Julia, played by Whitney Houston, the church's choir leader. Houston sings several gospel songs, and the soundtrack became the best-selling gospel album of all time. It is available on digital and DVD.
