The Apartment (1960)

The Apartment trailer is for Billy Wilder's 1960 comedy-drama, set at Christmas and New Year's in New York. C.C. "Bud" Baxter, played by Jack Lemmon, is a lonely insurance clerk who climbs the company ladder by lending his apartment to executives for their affairs. Things get complicated when he learns that his boss, played by Fred MacMurray, is using it to meet elevator operator Fran Kubelik, played by Shirley MacLaine, the woman Bud quietly loves. Wilder wrote it with I.A.L. Diamond. It won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. Funny, sad and sharp about office life, it remains one of the great holiday-season films. It is available on Blu-ray, DVD and digital.
