2:31Network (1976)
The trailer for Network revisits Sidney Lumet's blistering satire of television news, which predicted much of the media age to come. When veteran anchorman Howard Beale learns he is being fired for low ratings, he announces on air that he will kill himself on live TV. Instead of pulling him, the struggling network discovers that his on-air breakdowns are a ratings sensation, and ambitious programming chief Diana Christensen turns him into a prophet of rage, urging viewers to shout that they are mad as hell and are not going to take this anymore. Peter Finch plays Beale, Faye Dunaway plays Diana and William Holden plays news chief Max Schumacher, with Robert Duvall, Beatrice Straight and Ned Beatty. Paddy Chayefsky wrote it. MGM and United Artists released it on November 27, 1976. It won four Oscars and is available to rent or buy digitally.
