Gandhi (1982)

The trailer for Gandhi revisits Richard Attenborough's epic biography of Mohandas Gandhi, winner of eight Academy Awards. The film follows Gandhi from his early years as a young lawyer facing racial discrimination in South Africa to his return to India, where he leads a nonviolent movement of civil disobedience against British rule. From the Salt March to his fasts and imprisonment, Gandhi inspires millions and helps win India's independence, even as the country is torn apart by violence between Hindus and Muslims. Ben Kingsley plays Gandhi in an Oscar-winning performance, with Candice Bergen, Edward Fox, John Gielgud, Trevor Howard, John Mills, Martin Sheen, Rohini Hattangadi and Roshan Seth. Attenborough directs. Columbia released it in the US in December 1982. It won Best Picture and is available to rent or buy digitally.
