Full Metal Jacket (1987)

The trailer for Full Metal Jacket revisits Stanley Kubrick's searing two-part Vietnam War film. In the first half, a group of young Marine recruits, including the wisecracking Private Joker and the overweight, struggling Private Pyle, endure brutal basic training on Parris Island under the merciless Gunnery Sergeant Hartman. In the second, Joker is a combat correspondent in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive, and he follows a squad into the ruins of Hue City, where a hidden sniper waits. Matthew Modine plays Joker, R. Lee Ermey plays Hartman and Vincent D'Onofrio plays Pyle, with Adam Baldwin, Dorian Harewood and Arliss Howard. Kubrick directs and co-wrote the script with Michael Herr and Gustav Hasford, adapting Hasford's novel The Short-Timers. Warner Bros. released it on June 26, 1987. It is available to rent or buy digitally.
