Romeo + Juliet (1996)

The Romeo + Juliet trailer is for Baz Luhrmann's 1996 modern take on William Shakespeare's tragedy, which keeps the original dialogue but moves the story to the violent, neon-colored streets of Verona Beach. The Montagues and Capulets are rival business empires whose young members carry guns with brand names like Sword and Dagger. Romeo, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, a moody young Montague, sneaks into a Capulet costume party and falls instantly in love with Juliet, played by Claire Danes, the daughter of his family's enemy. They marry in secret, but a deadly street fight involving her hot-tempered cousin Tybalt, played by John Leguizamo, and Romeo's friend Mercutio, played by Harold Perrineau, sets their fate in motion. Its soundtrack, featuring Radiohead, Garbage and Des'ree, was a hit. It is available on Blu-ray and digital.
