Romancing the Stone (1984)

The Romancing the Stone trailer is for Robert Zemeckis' 1984 action-adventure romantic comedy. Joan Wilder, played by Kathleen Turner, is a shy New York romance novelist whose life is nothing like the adventures she writes. Then her sister is kidnapped in Colombia, and the kidnappers demand a treasure map that was mailed to Joan. She flies to South America to pay the ransom, gets on the wrong bus and ends up stranded in the jungle. Her only help is Jack T. Colton, played by Michael Douglas, a rough-edged American soldier of fortune. Hunted by kidnappers and a ruthless military officer, the two go looking for the treasure themselves and fall for each other. Danny DeVito co-stars. A sequel, The Jewel of the Nile, came in 1985. It is available on Blu-ray and digital.
