Misery (1990)

The Misery trailer is for Rob Reiner's 1990 thriller based on Stephen King's novel. Paul Sheldon, played by James Caan, is a best-selling author who has just killed off his famous romance heroine, Misery Chastain, so he can write something more serious. After a car crash in a Colorado snowstorm, he wakes up with both legs broken in the remote farmhouse of Annie Wilkes, played by Kathy Bates, a nurse who calls herself his number one fan. At first she seems kind. Then she reads the new book and learns that Misery is dead, and Paul realizes he is her prisoner. Richard Farnsworth and Frances Sternhagen co-star. Bates won the Oscar for Best Actress. William Goldman wrote the script. It is available on Blu-ray and digital.
