L.A. Confidential (1997)

The trailer for L.A. Confidential revisits Curtis Hanson's brilliant neo-noir set in 1950s Los Angeles. After a bloody shooting at the Nite Owl coffee shop, three very different police officers investigate the case: Ed Exley, an ambitious by-the-book detective; Bud White, a hot-tempered cop who uses his fists; and Jack Vincennes, a slick narcotics officer who consults on a TV cop show. Their investigations lead to a high-class call-girl ring, a tabloid editor and corruption inside their own department. Guy Pearce plays Exley, Russell Crowe plays White and Kevin Spacey plays Vincennes, with Kim Basinger in an Oscar-winning role, James Cromwell, Danny DeVito and David Strathairn. Hanson directs, adapting James Ellroy's novel with Brian Helgeland. Warner Bros. released it on September 19, 1997. It is available to rent or buy digitally.
