Flashdance (1983)

The trailer for Flashdance revisits the music-video-style drama that became one of the defining films of the 1980s. Alex Owens is an 18-year-old steel mill welder in Pittsburgh by day and a cabaret dancer at a local bar by night. Her real dream is to be accepted into a prestigious ballet school, but with no formal training she is afraid to even apply. Encouraged by her mentor, a retired ballerina, and her boss and boyfriend Nick, she has to find the courage to audition. Jennifer Beals plays Alex, with Michael Nouri, Lilia Skala, Sunny Johnson and Kyle T. Heffner. Adrian Lyne directs, and Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer produce. Paramount released it on April 15, 1983, and "Flashdance... What a Feeling" won the Oscar for Best Original Song. It is available to rent or buy digitally.
