Escape from Alcatraz (1979)

The trailer for Escape from Alcatraz revisits the tense prison thriller based on the most famous breakout in American history. In 1960, Frank Morris, a career criminal with a record of escapes, is transferred to Alcatraz, the maximum-security prison on an island in San Francisco Bay that no one has ever successfully escaped. Watched by a cold and controlling warden, Morris studies the prison's routines and, with a small group of fellow inmates, spends months digging through the walls with spoons and building dummy heads and a raft, preparing for a night in June 1962. Clint Eastwood plays Morris, with Patrick McGoohan as the warden, Roberts Blossom, Jack Thibeau, Fred Ward and Larry Hankin. Don Siegel, who directed Eastwood in Dirty Harry, directs. Paramount released it on June 22, 1979. It is available to rent or buy digitally.
