Basic Instinct (1992)

The trailer for Basic Instinct revisits Paul Verhoeven's provocative erotic thriller. When a retired rock star is brutally murdered with an ice pick in his San Francisco bed, detective Nick Curran is assigned to the case. The prime suspect is Catherine Tramell, the dead man's lover, a wealthy and brilliant crime novelist whose latest book describes a murder exactly like it. Nick, a troubled cop with a violent past, becomes dangerously obsessed with Catherine as the bodies pile up, never sure whether she is playing with him or planning to kill him. Michael Douglas plays Nick and Sharon Stone plays Catherine in a star-making role, with George Dzundza, Jeanne Tripplehorn and Leilani Sarelle. Verhoeven directs from a script by Joe Eszterhas. TriStar released it on March 20, 1992. It is available to rent or buy digitally.
