The Abyss (1989)

The Abyss trailer is for James Cameron's 1989 underwater science fiction thriller. When an American nuclear submarine sinks mysteriously near the edge of a deep ocean trench, the Navy recruits the crew of a privately owned underwater drilling rig to help with the rescue. The rig's foreman, Bud Brigman, played by Ed Harris, has to work with a team of Navy SEALs led by an increasingly unstable lieutenant, played by Michael Biehn, and with his estranged wife, Lindsey, played by Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, who designed the rig. As a hurricane rages above, the crew begins to encounter strange glowing beings deep in the abyss. Its water tentacle effect was a big step forward for computer graphics and won an Oscar. It is available on 4K, Blu-ray and digital.
