River (2027)

The River official trailer sets up a backwoods slasher in a few lines: the sun is down, the boat engine is dead, there is no cell service, and someone is standing on the shore, staring. Jane Levy, Jessica Rothe and Max Mattern play estranged siblings who reunite in their rural hometown and end up stranded on the water. It is the feature debut of writer and director Joshua Giuliano, and it comes from the producers of Backrooms and Obsession. Levy is known for Don't Breathe and Evil Dead, and Rothe for the Happy Death Day films, so horror fans will know the faces. Universal Pictures releases River only in theaters on January 15, 2027.
