RESIDENT EVIL Creator Deep Dive With Filmmakers (2026)

This Creator Deep Dive from Sony Pictures takes you behind the scenes of Resident Evil, the 2026 reinvention of the survival horror franchise. Zach Cregger, the writer-director of Barbarian and Weapons, directs and co-wrote the film with Shay Hatten. Cregger has said he wanted a story that lives in the world of the games, on the edge of the events of Resident Evil 2, during Raccoon City's big night, while another story plays out in parallel. The goal was to honor the vibe and pacing of the games and pull the series back to its horror roots. Austin Abrams, Zach Cherry, Kali Reis and Paul Walter Hauser star. If you saw it in theaters or are catching it at home, this is a look at how the filmmakers built it. Resident Evil opened in US theaters September 18, 2026.
