National Lampoon's Vacation (1983)

The National Lampoon's Vacation trailer packs the Griswold family into the station wagon for the road trip from hell. Chevy Chase plays Clark Griswold, a well-meaning dad who decides to drive his family from Chicago to the Walley World theme park in California. Beverly D'Angelo plays his patient wife Ellen, and the trip goes wrong in every possible way, from a wrong turn in St. Louis to a visit with Cousin Eddie, played by Randy Quaid. John Candy plays a park security guard, Imogene Coca plays cranky Aunt Edna, and Christie Brinkley makes her acting debut as the mystery woman in the red Ferrari. Harold Ramis directs from John Hughes' script. The trailer is all chaos and slow-burn frustration. The film kicked off a whole series of Griswold vacations.
