Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003)

The trailer for Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World revisits Peter Weir's immersive naval adventure set during the Napoleonic Wars. In 1805, Captain Jack Aubrey of the British warship HMS Surprise is ordered to hunt down the Acheron, a faster and more heavily armed French privateer, off the coast of South America. After a devastating ambush, Aubrey pursues his enemy around Cape Horn and toward the Galápagos Islands, testing his crew and his friendship with the ship's surgeon and naturalist, Stephen Maturin. Russell Crowe plays Aubrey and Paul Bettany plays Maturin, with James D'Arcy, Billy Boyd and Max Pirkis. Weir directs, adapting Patrick O'Brian's novels. 20th Century Fox released it on November 14, 2003. It won Oscars for Best Cinematography and Sound Editing and is available to rent or buy digitally.
