Contact (1997)

The Contact trailer is for Robert Zemeckis' 1997 science fiction drama based on Carl Sagan's novel. Dr. Ellie Arroway, played by Jodie Foster, has dreamed of talking to the stars since she was a little girl using a ham radio with her late father. As an adult, she works for the SETI program, searching for radio signals from other worlds, even though most scientists think she is wasting her career. Then one night she detects a message from the star Vega. Inside are plans for a mysterious machine that might carry one human to meet whoever sent it. As governments, scientists and religious leaders argue over what it means and who should go, Ellie fights for the chance. Matthew McConaughey plays a religious scholar she falls for, and James Woods, Tom Skerritt and Angela Bassett co-star. It is available on Blu-ray and digital.
