Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)

The Charlie and the Chocolate Factory trailer opens the gates to Tim Burton's take on Roald Dahl's 1964 novel. Johnny Depp plays Willy Wonka, a reclusive candy maker who hides five golden tickets inside his chocolate bars and invites the lucky winners on a tour of his factory. Freddie Highmore plays Charlie Bucket, a poor boy who lives with his family in a crooked little house, and the trailer contrasts his quiet hope with the spoiled kids who win the other tickets. Helena Bonham Carter, David Kelly, Deep Roy and Christopher Lee round out the cast, with Roy playing every one of the Oompa-Loompas. John August wrote the script. Expect candy rivers, squirrels and Burton's signature gothic color. It is a darker, stranger trip into Wonka's world than the 1971 film.
