Bloodsport (1988)

The Bloodsport trailer is for the 1988 martial arts film that made Jean-Claude Van Damme a star. Frank Dux, played by Van Damme, is an American soldier trained in martial arts since childhood by his Japanese mentor, Tanaka. To honor his teacher, he goes AWOL and travels to Hong Kong to compete in the Kumite, a secret, brutal full-contact tournament where fighters can be badly hurt or even killed. Two military agents are sent to bring him back, and a reporter, played by Leah Ayres, wants his story. His toughest opponent is the vicious champion Chong Li, played by Bolo Yeung. Donald Gibb plays fellow fighter Ray Jackson. Newt Arnold directed. It is loosely based on Dux's own claims. It is available on Blu-ray and digital.
