300 (2006)

The trailer for 300 revisits Zack Snyder's hyper-stylized retelling of the Battle of Thermopylae. In 480 BC, the Persian god-king Xerxes leads a massive army to conquer Greece. Defying his city's politicians and priests, King Leonidas of Sparta marches out with just 300 of his finest warriors to hold a narrow mountain pass against the invaders, while back home Queen Gorgo fights to win support for her husband. Gerard Butler plays Leonidas, with Lena Headey as Gorgo, David Wenham, Dominic West, Rodrigo Santoro as Xerxes and Michael Fassbender. Snyder directs, recreating the look of Frank Miller's graphic novel shot almost entirely against blue screen. The film premiered in December 2006, and Warner Bros. released it in theaters on March 9, 2007. It is available to rent or buy digitally.
