The Debut (2026)

The Debut trailer is for the A24 comedy-drama written and directed by Jesse Eisenberg. Mona Friedman, played by Julianne Moore, is a shy, quiet housewife who gets cast in a tiny role at her small community theater. Something in her changes. She turns into a fierce method actor who will do anything to protect the artistic integrity of her very small part, even if it means going to war with the show's controlling director, played by Paul Giamatti. Halle Bailey and Eisenberg co-star, with Cara Buono, Craig Bierko and Bernadette Peters. It is a funny, sharp look at ambition and art on the smallest of stages, and the trailer has already sparked awards talk for Moore and Giamatti. It opens in theaters December 11, 2026.
