You Can See Everything Beats Clayface at Halloween Box Office

A24's Elizabeth Holmes documentary held the top spot on Friday, edging DC's Clayface in a slow Halloween weekend.

A24's You Can See Everything was the No. 1 movie in North America on Friday, Oct. 30, taking in $3.56 million from 3,243 theaters and finishing just ahead of Warner Bros. and DC's Clayface, which made about $3.3 million in its second Friday.

That is an unusual headline for any October weekend. You Can See Everything is a documentary about Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes, made by Nathan Fielder and Primetime filmmaker Lance Oppenheim, who worked on it for more than three years. It opened in theaters on Oct. 16, and A24 added 588 screens for its third weekend instead of letting it fade.

The film had already earned $56.85 million in North America before Friday. Weekend estimates from Variety and Deadline put it a little above $10 million for the three days, which would push its domestic total past $60 million. It is in theaters now; no streaming date has been announced.

Clayface is not far behind. James Watkins directed the horror take on the Batman villain, with Tom Rhys Harries as Matt Hagen, a rising actor who agrees to an experimental procedure after his face is disfigured. Its Friday was down sharply from its opening Friday, but trade estimates still have it near $10 million for the weekend and well past $40 million domestic.

Further down the chart, Laika's stop-motion feature Wildwood placed third on Friday with $2.39 million, and Black Bear's Wicker, starring Olivia Colman, Alexander Skarsgård and Peter Dinklage, made $1.43 million in its second weekend.

Final weekend numbers arrive Sunday, and with the top two this close, the order could still change. Watch the You Can See Everything trailer above.
