Trinity Trailer: Richard Madden and Gugu Mbatha-Raw on Netflix Dec. 1
Bodyguard creator Jed Mercurio reunites with Richard Madden for a naval conspiracy thriller built around a secret program called Trinity.
Trinity, the new conspiracy thriller series from Jed Mercurio starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Richard Madden, premieres on Netflix on December 1, 2026. Netflix released the official trailer on November 4.
Mbatha-Raw plays Commander Katherine Decker, the second-in-command of the nuclear submarine USS Kansas. Madden plays Webb Preston, the U.S. Secretary of Defense. The official synopsis describes a heroic naval officer who gets involved with an outwardly charismatic defense secretary, then finds out he may sit at the center of a dangerous conspiracy tied to the mistaken deployment of a tactical nuclear weapon.
The word in the title is the key. Trinity is the name of the top-secret program at the heart of that conspiracy, and the trailer splits its time between the cramped control rooms of a ballistic missile submarine and the corridors of power in Washington, D.C.
The series marks a reunion. Mercurio, who created Line of Duty and Bodyguard, cast Madden as the lead of Bodyguard, the 2018 BBC thriller that Netflix streamed outside the U.K.. On Trinity, Mercurio is the writer, showrunner and an executive producer.
The supporting cast is deep with familiar faces: Marcia Gay Harden, JD Pardo, Bruce Greenwood, Robert Wisdom, Kirk Acevedo, Ben Cotton, James Remar, Jason Ralph and Mark O'Brien. Netflix lists Greenwood as Special Agent Eric Colby, Wisdom as Admiral Griff Tatum and Remar as President Paul Barnard.
The series is produced by 20th Television, with Wendy Mericle and Jimmy Mulville among the executive producers alongside Mercurio.
Where to watch: Trinity streams on Netflix starting December 1. Watch the official trailer above.
