The Gilded Age Season 4 Trailer: HBO Schedule Runs to December 20
Julian Fellowes' period drama returned to HBO on November 1 with eight new episodes, a sitting president at the dinner table and the Russell marriage on the rocks.
The Gilded Age Season 4 premiered Sunday, November 1, at 9 p.m. on HBO and HBO Max, and it runs eight episodes, one each Sunday night, through the finale on December 20.
That makes this a holiday-season show from start to finish. Episode 2 lands November 8, Thanksgiving weekend brings Episode 5 on November 29, and the last three episodes fall on December 6, 13 and 20. Anyone who missed the premiere can stream it now on HBO Max before the second hour arrives.
The trailer sets up the season's central reversal. Bertha Russell (Carrie Coon) got what she wanted from New York society, and HBO's description says her family now has to live with what it cost. Her marriage to George (Morgan Spector) is the clearest casualty, and the trailer shows Bertha working to repair it.
Across the street, Agnes van Rhijn (Christine Baranski) sees her chance to win back the standing she lost, and her house prepares for a guest who outranks everyone in town: President Grover Cleveland, played by Jim Gaffigan in one of the season's most talked-about castings. Neal Huff joins as John D. Rockefeller, giving George a rival as powerful as he is.
The younger characters get their own pressure points. Peggy Scott (Denée Benton) and Dr. William Kirkland (Jordan Donica) are engaged, but their separate careers pull at the plan, and Peggy is still trying to win over her future in-laws. Marian Brook (Louisa Jacobson) heads down a more independent road of her own.
Cynthia Nixon, Taissa Farmiga, Harry Richardson and Blake Ritson are back as well. Julian Fellowes, who created Downton Abbey, created the series and continues to write it.
Where to watch: new episodes air Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and stream at the same time on HBO Max. The full Season 4 trailer is above.
