Proxies Teaser Trailer: Oriol Paulo's Netflix Thriller Lands Dec. 11
Netflix's first look at the Spanish director's new mystery opens with a Christmas Eve murder confession that only raises more questions.
Proxies, the new Spanish thriller from writer-director Oriol Paulo, premieres worldwide on Netflix on Friday, December 11, 2026, and Netflix released its teaser trailer this week.
The setup is lean and nasty. On the morning of Christmas Eve, a man walks into a police station and confesses to killing two or three people. He doesn't seem sure of the count, and that is the least of the problems. The real puzzle, per Netflix's synopsis, is why he chose to turn himself in now and what he expects to get out of it.
From there the confession gets tangled up with a second case, one that police had already closed and that, in Netflix's words, "defies all logic." The teaser keeps its cards face down, selling mood and a single impossible question rather than plot.
Paulo co-wrote the script with Guillem Clua. The cast is led by Eduard Fernández, Mario Casas, Blanca Suárez, Nicolás Francella and Alexandra Jiménez. Bernat Bosch shot the film, and Fernando Velázquez wrote the score.
This is another Netflix collaboration for Paulo, whose name is attached to The Invisible Guest, the limited series The Innocent and God's Crooked Lines. If you've seen any of those, you know the house style: a confession or a crime that looks simple, then a stack of reversals that rewrites the first act.
Proxies was produced by Libertad Ribera and Jaume Martí for Juanita Films, with Paulo and Miguel Ángel Faura as executive producers. According to What's on Netflix, cameras rolled in Reus and Tarragona, in Catalonia, from November 2025 to April 2026.
Where to watch: Proxies streams only on Netflix starting December 11. The teaser is on this page now.
